I came across an article about Narcissistic Personality Disorder from the blog MakeItUltra that explained the mother-daughter relationship I’ve been battling with since I was a kid. I’ve been in therapy for decades trying to sort out how it’s possible to be told by my mother, “I’ve never loved someone as much as I love you”, but at the same time, feeling like she doesn’t actually like me. What I mean is, how is it possible that my mother’s actions- unnecessarily harsh comments as well as unexpected rude behavior- are so misaligned with the love she apparently feels for me?? I think I’ve finally discovered why.
